DRESS CODE

Here at Ideal Dance we think that everyone's body is beautiful. In order to make corrections about technique, we need to see people's bodies well in ballet, pointe, jazz, and contemporary. We need to see hips, torsos, and legs to ensure people are doing steps correctly--to build the right muscles and to be sure they don't hurt themselves. We do not allow midriffs to be seen in any class. Those unable to afford practice clothing should contact Gretchen to see if there is scholarship money available to you.

Ballet & Pointe
Leotard and tights strongly encouraged or tight fitting clothing.
Can wear shorts, skirt, or leggings over top.
Ballet or Pointe shoes.

Jazz
Leotard strongly encouraged with shorts or leggings over.
Jazz shoes.

Contemporary
Leotard strongly encouraged with shorts or leggings over.
Foot undies or no shoes.

Tap
Feet need to be easily seen - strongly encourage capris or shorts.
Oxford tap shoes.

Hip Hop
Any clothes that are easy to move in and don't interfere with movements.
Clean sneakers (not shoes that you also wear outside).

Live Green. Dance Green.

Ideal Dance is “green.”  We will be sending information home via email.  Please get into the habit of checking your inboxes once a week.  On top of the environmental benefits of “greener” information distribution, this will allow me to send more information to you at an increased speed--including but not limited to reminders, weather cancellations, performance updates, costume descriptions, holiday schedules and more.

Costumes & Performance Policy

Costumes

Costume prices average $50 - $90 per costume.

Costumes deposits of $40 per costume are due by November 30.

The remaining balance is due by April 1.

Costume deposits are refundable, less a $10.00 charge per costume, if cancelled before December 15,

Beyond December 15, deposits will not be refunded and the costumes must be paid in full. 

Performance Policy

Each year we have an annual performance in June.

We will be having a show on Saturday afternoon.

You are not required to participate in the performance.

There is a mandatory $60 performance/fundraiser fee per family that includes a link to the video of the show and a $15 credit for an ad in the program, due by 10/31.
No substitutions are allowed.
